The case agitates the political class for several hours this Monday. On Wednesday February 16, shortly after 8 p.m., a young man was crossing the railway tracks when he was hit by tram 1 in Bobigny (in Seine-Saint-Denis). A few seconds before the tragedy, he had been beaten by young people. Victim of cardio-respiratory arrest and head trauma, he died shortly after midnight in hospital.
The Bobigny prosecutor’s office communicated on the case on Monday, indicating that a judicial investigation was opened at the end of March of the head of “” voluntary violence in a meeting which resulted in death without intention to give it “. A first investigation was opened shortly after the events to determine the circumstances of the death. “The hypothesis that the victim crossed the tram tracks to escape his attackers was naturally taken into account,” said Bobigny prosecutor Eric Mathais in his press release.
According to the family of the deceased, Jeremy Cohen, interviewed by Radio Shalom, the young man suffered from an invisible disability. His two brothers were towing at the scene and collected a video showing part of the drama, widely shared on social networks on Monday. A video, confirming the hypothesis of an altercation between the victim and several individuals, was received on March 10 by the investigators. The judicial police of Seine-Saint-Denis is in charge of the investigation.
