According to Météo France, the start of the race from Marseille will take place under overcast skies with intermittent rain. A weather that will recall the previous edition of 2023. Still according to forecasters, the cloud ceiling could descend on the Col de la Gineste. In the late morning, the weather will clear up and the rain will stop.
For runners, rain is not a handicap, recalls Claude Ravel, president of the SCO Sainte-Marguerite and co-founder of the race. “If it rains, it’s not too bad. Ultimately, it’s easier in the rain, not heavy rain, but a little rain refreshes the body much more than if it’s 2,526 degrees, where there is danger at the finish for the runners“, he confided on the set of France 3 Provence-Alpes, this Wednesday, October 23.
Météo France assures that the wind will not disturb the runners much. On the majority of the route, a wind of 10 to 15 km/h will be felt. It will be a little stronger on arrival at the Col de la Gineste, between 25 and 30 km/h.
Regarding temperatures, at the hottest of the day, it will be between 20 and 21 degrees. The minimum temperature is estimated between 14 and 15 degrees.
While the 2022 edition experienced strong heat from the start, the weather forecast institute assures that this year it will be a “autumn weather, overcast, intermittent rain and a little wind“However, given the current weather, the climatic situation can change quickly.
Whether it’s raining, windy or sunny, we recommend that you hydrate throughout the race, in particular thanks to the refreshments provided for this purpose. 20,000 people are expected for this new edition.
