The secretary general of the Banks Association, Dr Fadi Khalaf, denied in a statement that “there is no truth to the news of the closure of the banks, which is currently circulating through social media”.
Interestingly, this news came after an armed depositor stormed a Lebanese-French bank in Nabatiyeh on Tuesday morning, demanding part of his deposit.
The depositor, Muhammad Q., who is an army soldier, fired a pistol at the door of BLOM bank in Sidon, trying to storm it, and was later stopped by an army intelligence patrol.
