Everyone has at least one pair of jeans or at least jeans in their wardrobe. Nowadays, they come in all sorts of varieties, colors, patterns, etc. It can be said that what they have in common is a small and rather strange “device”, the purpose of which not everyone has an explanation.
It’s about that little pocket that is in all models of jeans, writes jenata.blitz.bg. This pocket is so tiny that it does not hold anything or at least nothing that we use in our daily lives. And here comes the logical question – what is its purpose?
Well, for years this question remained unanswered, but today one has been found.
History shows that it all started back in 1873 by the most famous brand of jeans – Levi’s.
And so – 148 years ago Levi’s put this pocket so that it could store pocket watches. Or at least that’s just one of the versions.
According to another theory, a small pocket of jeans was needed so that workers (mainly this stratum of society wore jeans) could put nails and other small parts in it.
Later, this element became only a hallmark of the Levi’s brand, and despite the fact that jeans have long ceased to be clothes only for the working class, they are still produced with the small pocket in question.
However, the idea of a small pocket began to be accepted by other companies, only slightly changing the location and size of this element.
