There were huge queues at gas stations across the country on Wednesday evening. Frightened that the price of fuel will explode overnight, the drivers stormed the gas stations.
Hence the panic over the explosion of gasoline and diesel prices
The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, claims that fuel prices will not risethat “a psychosis has been created” and that there will be controls at the companies that have increased the price at the pump.
“I call for calm: don’t stand in line. We have enough stocks, so there are NO arguments for unjustified and explosive price increases. Let us not get caught up in a hybrid war, especially in the current regional security context. As Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca also announced, the competent institutions will start extensive control actions at the gas stations because WE WILL NOT ALLOW SPECULATION! Let’s not get into the game of those who want to destabilize Romania! ”, Wrote Virgil Popescu on his Facebook account.
At the same time, Minister Virgil Popescu told Digi24 that all the panic started from “MOL from Beiuș”.
“The information was rolled on social media, there was panic,” he said.
In fact, Agerpres wrote that due to some problems at a refinery in Hungary, MOL registered a fuel shortage on the Romanian market, the company raising the price of fuel for the fleets of carriers to over 10 lei per liter of diesel.
