The leaves of the trees take on color and the air cools. No doubt, fall has arrived on Instagram. With a wide palette of colors, the new season is conducive to posting beautiful photographs on the social network.
For the occasion, Premier Inn conducted a study of 356 cities around the world to reveal the most photographed and shared places on the platform during this season.

The study counted the figures obtained by cumulating the hashtags #autumnincity, #fallincity and compared them between cities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa , South America, Asia and the Middle East.
With 151,136 cumulative hashtags, it is New York which takes first place in this top 20 most popular cities on Instagram, worldwide.
London comes second with far fewer hashtags counted, 72,863 in total, while Paris gets third place on the podium with 66,258 hashtags.

Among the 20 most popular cities, United States are needed. Besides the Big Apple in first place, Chicago takes fourth place, Seattle is seventh, Boston comes in 14th place and Miami follows just behind in 15th place.
Australia is widely represented with three cities: Melbourne is placed ahead of Sydney and Perth, in last place in the ranking.
Cape Town is the most mentioned city on the African continent with 2,017 hashtags in autumn on Instagram while Dubai dominates in the Middle East, Buenos Aires in South America and Naejangsan mountain in Seoul.
