During his visit to Great Britain, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, together with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, signed the “London Declaration” on deepening the partnership between the two countries.
The document states that Britain has already provided almost four billion pounds of military, humanitarian and economic aid to Ukraine, of which 2.3 billion pounds is military aid, second only to that of the United States.
The British side undertakes to continue this support, to help in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system and other civil infrastructure objects, as well as to continue the pressure of sanctions on Russia, including the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.
In the context of military aid, London emphasizes that it will help in the long-term development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but before the NATO Vilnius summit, it will work together with the alliance member states on “deepening Ukraine’s operational compatibility with NATO and accelerating Ukraine’s transition to NATO standards.”
Great Britain separately notes its support for the “peace formula” proposed by the President of Ukraine and is ready to play a leading role in its implementation, and also announces the holding of a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine on June 21 and 22 in London.
“We are confident that together with our allies and partners we will defeat Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion and build a strong Ukraine, where peace and prosperity will reign,” the signatories of the declaration summarized.
Zelensky arrived in Britain on Wednesday, making his second foreign visit since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Zelensky is expected to attend the European Union (EU) summit in Brussels on Thursday.
