What is the current level of radiation in the world and in the Czech Republic? In addition to weather, precipitation and air flow, the Czech Windy.com service now also shows information on the current state of radiation from more than 5,000 control stations.
Radiation is commonly present in nature. However, it should not exceed certain limits that can be dangerous to humans and cause cancer or even death. This is one of the reasons why the level of radiation in civilized countries is constantly monitored and evaluated. If you are looking for clear information about the level of radiation in Europe, the Windy.com application will also help you. We wrote more about the origins of the Czech service in the article: Wind speed and the best weather forecast online?
The new radiation level layer can be activated on Windy.com by clicking the “Multiple Layers” button at the bottom of the screen. Then just select the “Radiation” layer from the menu. So far, the information is only available in the web application; according to the founder of Seznam.cz, it will look at the mobile only at the next update.
Great deal! Easily accessible, right with wind direction information. Beauty. https://t.co/psvY7Yh0Jn

What radiation is dangerous?
The map is a useful tool, but which values are already dangerous and which are not worth mentioning? The map shows the values given in nanoSv per hour. The sievert unit (Sv) indicates the effect of ionizing radiation on cells in the body.
For comparison:
- Eating one banana will expose your body 0.1 microSv.
- X-ray of the arm once 1 mikroSv. In terms of risks, the lowest dose of radiation per year, which according to research increases the risk of cancer, is 100 mSv.
- The lethal dose of radiation is considered to be the value of 8 Vol.
- After the Chernobyl reactor explosion, the intervening firefighters and soldiers were exposed to values up to 50 Sv in ten minutes.
