The International Football Association (FIFA) will investigate the circumstances in which chef Nusret Gökce, known as Salt Bae, took to the pitch after the World Cup final.
The Turkish celebrity took to the pitch during celebrations for Argentina’s triumph over France, despite not belonging to either team, and even lifted the victory trophy.
“We will investigate how individuals gained unauthorized access to the pitch after the ceremony and take appropriate internal action,” FIFA said.
Salt Bae shared photos with the trophy and the Argentine players on social media. He also snapped a photo with star captain Lionel Messi.
The 39-year-old Turkish man owns one of Doha’s restaurants and was seen alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino during the tournament in Qatar.
