The debate about which is the most important classic in Colombia will always be a difficult subject to discuss. Aspects like history, national and international titles, fans and recognition in other countries they are some of the aspects that should be put on the table.
For now, Conmebol leaned towards the rivalry between Atlético Nacional against América de Cali, leaving aside teams such as Millonarios, Santa Fe, Deportivo Cali or Junior de Barranquilla.

In social networks, the South American Confederation highlighted the classics of the continent. Of course, in some countries like Argentina, Chile or Uruguay the more traditional parties are very clear. Here is the list:

Argentina | River Plave Boca Juniors |
Bolivia | Bolívar vs. The Strongest |
Brazil | Flamengo vs. Corinthians |
Chile | Colo Colo vs. University of Chile |
Colombia | America de Cali vs. National Athletic |
Ecuador | Barcelona vs. Emelec |
Paraguay | Olympia vs. Cerro Porteño |
Peru | University vs. Lima Alliance |
Uruguay | Peñarol vs. National |
Venezuela | Caracas FC vs. Deportivo Táchira |

Without a doubt, in Colombia, football disputes are very regional. At least the three main cities in the country have two traditional clubs: in Bogotá, Millionaires Vs. Santa Fe; in Medellin, Atlético Nacional vs. DIM; and in Cali, America vs. Deportivo Cali.
Overcoming that barrier, historically, there have been several clashes such as the ‘vintage classic’ between Deportivo Cali and Millonarios, which several decades ago was considered by many to be the most important in the country, but which has lost relevance with the passage of time.
Later, with the good participation in the international cups, Nacional and América came to the fore in the 1980s and 1990s. Despite the above, the truth is that Millonarios, Atlético Nacional and América de Cali have an advantage above the rest due to the number of local titles and its relevance at the international level.
For example, Atlético Nacional is the only one to have two Copa Libertadores championships, America has played several finals of that tournament and Millionaires will always be recognized for their successful times, when they were called as the ‘blue ballet’.
