The main feature of Snapchat is photo or video messages that disappear on their own. Conversations that disappear after 10 seconds have created a new culture of communication. More sincere, real and liberated.
Drunk selfies, intimate photos, secret snaps disappear and only stay in the memory of the person you’re chatting with, but not on the internet, where content once uploaded usually stays forever.
Besides the other interesting features of Snapchat, there is one more feature that makes the app interesting.
This is quick add. This allows you to display similar people that you may know through mutual friends or other aspects. However, many people do not know what this feature is and how it works.
So here’s how to use the Quick Add feature in Snapchat and what it is all about.
What is Quick Add on Snapchat
The Quick Add feature is a list of other Snapchat users you may know. Here, Snapchat will show you a list of people you’re friends with. This is the same as Facebook’s People You May Know feature.
So, Quick Add is a section full of friends of friends or mutual friends. For example, your brother’s best friend or your classmate’s sister. This feature recommends new friends to you. This way you can meet a name you know or someone you know who recently signed up to the app.
If your friends recently deleted their old accounts and started a new Snapchat account, they’ll also appear in this list.
How does the Snapchat Quick Add feature work?
Similar to Facebook where profiles are linked to your profile or their profile to your mutual friend’s profile, Quick Add on Snapchat works on the same algorithm. It displays common profiles.
So if you have a friend named Steve on your Snapchat profile and he has a girlfriend named Jane on his profile, Quick Add will recommend Jane to you. Note that Snapchat sometimes also shows profiles in Quick Add that have recently joined the app.
Why are random people getting into my snapchat quick add
There are many reasons why random people might show up on your Quick Add on Snapchat.
The first reason is that you gave Snapchat access to your phone contact list. Therefore, people from your contacts will appear on Snapchat. If someone signs up with a phone number that’s already in your contacts list, Snapchat might think you know each other. Facebook and Twitter use the same function.
Another reason is “recently joined”. This name will appear below a person’s name in the Quick Add function. This means the person has just started their Snapchat journey and added some of your friends.
Another reason why random people appear in your quick add is that if you connect your Snapchat account to other social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, they’ll also appear as suggestions. Since you are linked to the above accounts, Snapchat wants you to add some of your friends from another social network.
How to Remove Snapchat Profiles from Quick Add
If you’re being inundated with unwanted friend requests or random people and don’t want your profile to show up on other people’s profiles in the Suggestions or Quick Add, you can turn off this feature in your Snapchat settings.
If you want to do that, you need to follow the steps below:
- First, log into your Snapchat account with your credentials.
- Then navigate to the option “Account”.
- Tap on the icon “Settings” in the top right corner of the screen and you will see several options there.
- Then scroll down to the function “See me in Quick Add” and tap on it.
- Finally, uncheck the box to disable this feature.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll remove your Snapchat profile from the quick add suggestions.
