JAKARTA – What is NFC and how does it work on a cellphone? Near-field Communication is a wireless technology that allows devices to share information simply by bringing the phone closer.

Because there are so many functions, NFC seems to be a mandatory feature for cellphones. In fact, even in the entry-level class, users want the NFC feature not to be removed.

NFC is so practical, because it allows the transfer of digital data and transactions via smartphones quickly.

Users, for example, can send files, photos and videos, transfer contacts, share apps, and make contactless payments between phones and NFC-enabled objects.

NFC uses electromagnetic induction to send and receive data via radio waves at high speed. To activate it, you only need to go to the Settings menu> Connection & sharing, then activate NFC.

The latest phones like the vivo V21 even claim to embed the NFC Multifunctions feature.

Vivo Indonesia Senior Product Manager Ricky Bunardi said, the advantage of NFC technology lies in its role in communicating and transacting in a very convenient and easy way just by touching or bringing the device closer to the desired service.

“Generally, NFC is used to send or receive files, such as photos, videos, songs, and so on; and to read information from electronic money cards or other passive components,” he said.
