What is Kate and William’s private island – 2024-04-20 17:17:07

Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, have a favorite holiday destination – a personal subtropical paradise that they own.

The Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall offer “extremely beautiful, uninhabited and unspoiled” scenery and are also loved by the royal couple and their children. They enjoyed the peaceful island of Tresco, staying there for a family holiday in 2020 and again in 2021 with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, reports the Daily Record.

The Isles of Scilly are a place you’ll want to return to. Its stunningly beautiful beaches and spectacular walking trails are some of the best in the UK, and the promise of the freshest crabs and hand-picked local lobsters is irresistible.

Since becoming the Prince of Wales and owner of the islands, Prince William has been seen cycling and socializing with the locals alongside his wife and children. The island was previously owned by his father, Prince Charles.

The islands are a coveted retreat for royalty and celebrities due to their stunning beauty and seclusion. A total of 5,000 beds are available to tourists, which makes them an ideal place for a relaxing time.

This remote archipelago, located approximately 30 miles west of Land’s End in Cornwall, consists of five inhabited islands and many uninhabited, wild islands with pristine white sand beaches and hidden coves. The archipelago is the westernmost and southernmost point of England, as well as the southernmost point of Great Britain.

Due to their remote location in the Atlantic Ocean, the islands have a different microclimate to mainland UK. So while it’s cool and cloudy in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly will be a few degrees warmer and the blue skies will make the beaches look heavenly.

The Isles of Scilly have an oceanic to humid subtropical climate. The average annual temperature is 12 degrees Celsius and the highest recorded is 27.8 degrees, making the Isles of Scilly the warmest place in the British Isles. Winters are the warmest in the UK due to the moderating influence of the Gulf Stream. The summer heat is tempered by the Atlantic Ocean.

The Isles of Scilly have a small population of only 2,100 permanent residents, with the largest island, St. Mary’s, home to 1,600 of them.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will probably fly to Tresco Island by helicopter, but for regular residents and visitors there is a ferry that takes two to three hours to the main island of St Mary. Small planes also land at the islands’ only airport, with flights to Newquay, Exeter and Land’s End.

Tresco, the second largest island of the archipelago, is famous for its breathtaking subtropical botanical gardens, a legacy of Augustus Smith in the 19th century.

Tresco Island is best known for its Abbey Gardens, a botanical wonder containing over 4,000 species of trees, plants and flowers. The sumptuous ruins of a 12th-century monastery were once inhabited by monks before being destroyed in the 1500s, and nearby is the magnificent Valhalla Museum, which displays around 30 wood carvings from shipwrecks washed up on the local shore.

The island’s hiking trails stretch along the coast, offering stunning views of the azure ocean beyond, and morning yoga classes on the beach are a great way to start the day.

For families, Tresco is everything they could want for fun and getting back to nature. Its bright white beaches call for building sandcastles, and the turquoise ocean is often surprisingly calm and an ideal place to learn open-water swimming, kayaking and other water sports.

Prince William first visited the Isles of Scilly in June 1989 with his brother Prince Harry and parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana. A magical place to spend time with the whole family, now he brings his children.

There is no doubt that William’s previous visits encouraged him to take his family to these islands – he himself explored these beaches and rode these trails as a child – but the allure of Tresco’s breathtaking scenery was probably the deciding factor. The island is beautifully maintained and never feels crowded, even when its hotels are full, writes rochivka.blitz.bg
