What is John Stockton’s impossible record for assists?

John Stockton is one of the most outstanding bases in the history of the NBA and, despite not having won an American league title, he is remembered as one of the best point guards in the Association for his vision of the game to get his teammates in better position on the court.

During his time with the Utah Jazz, Stockton formed a legendary duo with Karl Malone, who became his primary pass-catcher to fill his stat sheets with points. In addition, “Stock” has an assists record, which seems impossible for any player to reach and several have fallen short in their attempt to do so.

Stockton, top assists player in history

With 1,504 assists in his career, Stockton is the NBA’s all-time leader with 15,806 over his 19 seasons. The legendary Jazz point guard has provided all of those assists while wearing a Utah uniform in all of his years as an active player and it’s a record that seems unattainable for others.

Second on the list is Jason Kidd, one of the league’s standouts during the 2000s, who dished out 12,091 assists during his career, but he’s the closest to Stockton. Chris Paul and LeBron James are still active, but they’re far from being able to reach the more than 15,000 assists dished out by the historic Jazz player.
