What is Happy Hypoxia in Covid-19 Patients? Here’s How to Know the Signs of Happy Hypoxia

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The following is an explanation of what Happy Hypoxia is in patients Covid-19.

Gazetted Tribunnews.com, Lung Specialist Dr. Erlina Burhan M.Sc, Sp.P explained, Happy Hypoxia is a lack of oxygen in the blood.

Normally, healthy people have 95-100 percent oxygen levels in their blood, while those who are sick only have 60-70 percent.

“Supposedly the person who lacks oxygen will be short of breath, but this is not the case for some patients Covid-19 with symptoms of Happy Hypoxia.”

“Why? Because there is damage to the nerves that carry nerve sensors to the brain. Then the brain cannot respond to tightness but the patient has no symptoms or does not have shortness of breath,” he explained.

He said, Happy Hypoxia only occurs in symptomatic patients Covid-19.

Happy Hypoxia is not a stand-alone disease, but a symptom or condition experienced by the patient Covid-19.

“Don’t panic, Happy Hypoxia is not available in asymptomatic people (OTG) Covid-19, this happens to symptomatic people Covid-19, rarely occurs in OTG,” he explained.

For that, Erlina said it was important for every patient Covid-19 know the symptoms of Happy Hypoxia, if treated too late it can lead to death.

“Don’t wait for shortness of breath because there are no symptoms of shortness of breath. Just see one sign, go to the hospital immediately,” he said.
