Snow is falling in many parts of Turkey, Turkish television CNN-Turk reported. The cold front has spread to many districts in northern Anatolia. Snow cover is formed in the higher places in the counties of Trabzon, Rize, Giresun, Bayburt, Bolu, as well as in Kayseri (Central Turkey).
At the same time, temperatures in the southern, southwestern and southeastern districts continue to rise, with beaches in Aegean and Mediterranean resorts full of tourists.
In late May, Turkish state television TRT Haber announced that an eight-meter snow cover continued to block roads in Turkey’s southeastern Haqqari district.
For 20 days without interruption, equipment cleared the deep snow in the area of the villages of Gollerbashi and Binbir in the Ikiyaka Mountains.
The cleared road section was 16 kilometers long, and in some places the snow cover, formed under the influence of avalanches and snowstorms, reached a depth of 8 meters.
