– I’m terribly afraid that not intervening in the gray economy will be even more expensive for all of us, Tuomas Kettunen of the center says in the press release.
Iltalehti reported on Saturday that Orpo’s government has not initiated the preparation of a new program to combat the gray economy. The program, drawn up for four years at a time, has been made since 1996.
Criticism rains down from the opposition parties for ignoring the fight against the gray economy.
MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri (sd) showed her dismay on the messaging service X.
– There are already aspects where I hope for help from the EU to protect the homeland… What is attractive about that gray economy? No tax revenue will be received, and honest companies will be in a weaker position. Not my values government, Kumpula-Natri download.
“What might be the government’s motive”
Tuomas Kettunen, MP and member of the Working Life and Equality Committee, says in the press release that he is shocked by Prime Minister Orpo’s government’s “lax attitude” to combating the gray economy.
– Vippaskonst’s creators and other vilunkipel practitioners eat the bread of honest and conscientious entrepreneurs and their employees. I don’t accept that the gray economy is overlooked without intervention. If the gray economy is not brutally combated, it will spread and eat away at the lifeline of the entire economy like cancer, Kettunen says in the press release.
JOEL MAISALMI
In its budget alternative, the center has proposed that the program to combat the gray economy be continued.
– I’m terribly afraid that not intervening in the gray economy will be even more expensive for all of us. What might be the government’s motive for terminating established and effective cross-governmental cooperation? Why are financial looters given leeway and a head start? Many people are thinking about this now, Kettunen says in the announcement.
Chairman of Erto, the union of employees in special fields Juri Aaltonen (sd) also expressed his disappointment in the messaging service X.
– What the hell is going on in this country? Is this crony capitalism? Weakening the control of the gray economy means a stab in the side of honest entrepreneurs and citizens. In addition, public finances are weakening and tax morale is deteriorating, Aaltonen writes.
Purra answered briefly
Finance Minister Riikka Purra (ps) wrote in the message service X that there is “clearly wrong information circulating” about the fight against the gray economy.
– In the autumn budget rush, two million euros were added to it. As the previous government’s temporary funding, 1.9 million euros, ended accordingly, the net money used to combat the gray economy increased by 100,000 euros, Purra writes.
However, Purra did not comment on the program itself, the preparation of which has not been started by the current government.
Orpo’s cabinet previously directed Iltalehti’s questions to the Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen (ps), but Rantanen did not answer Iltalehti’s questions.
