He said, “We can only acknowledge the campaign of Ministers Boushkian and Hajj Hassan, and the Consumer Protection Authority, which today must intensify its campaigns in all consumer institutions, reveal what is displayed on the shelves, and ensure the authenticity of the ingredients.”
He added, “What is happening in the dairy and cheese sector is very dangerous, and dozens of farm owners and young cow breeders have closed their farms and sold their cows because they are unable to secure the costs of fodder and not buy milk from them, because the majority resorted to manufacturing food preparations, falsifying its ingredients, and falsely labeling the word “fresh milk.” .
Al-Tarshishi called for “doubling efforts, because the harm affects the health of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese who consume toxins as a result of this forgery in recording the quality of manufactures. There are those who manufacture chemicals and hydrogenated oils and call them “production of fresh milk.” Here, the most severe penalties must be imposed and the forged factories should be closed completely. It is not temporary and that the punishment be very harsh, because what is committed against the health of the Lebanese is an unprecedented crime, not to mention the economic damage inflicted on the owners of clean and licensed institutions and the owners of farms who are on the verge of complete bankruptcy.
