The total number of people infected with the same type of bacteria reached 49, 10 of whom were hospitalized for treatment, and among them an elderly man died in Colorado.
All of the infected people said they had eaten at McDonald’s before developing symptoms, and most of them said they had eaten a special type of hamburger called the “Quarter Pounder.”
The exact ingredient contaminated with bacteria has not been identified, but it may be ground beef or onions. McDonald’s has withdrawn these two ingredients pending the completion of the investigation.
