A driver under the influence of alcohol and drugs was captured after a short chase by RU-Trud agents. At around 10:20 pm on Saturday, in the area of Graf Ignatievo village on the Plovdiv – Karlovo main road, uniformed officers signaled the passage of a “Great Wall” jeep with a stop stick.
As the driver did not respond to the police order and continued to move in the direction of the subbalkan city, the patrol car followed the car with lights and sound signals activated. Upon exiting the settlement, the jeep was forcibly stopped and the inspection found that a resident of the village of Kostievo, who was a criminal, was behind the wheel.
His breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of 1.9 parts per million and a positive drug test for amphetamine. The man provided a blood sample for chemical analysis. With a police order, he was detained for up to 24 hours, an expedited proceeding was initiated.
Nine other drivers were stopped as part of road checks carried out from Friday to Sunday on the territory of the regional management. Four of the men were under the influence of drugs, another four – after consuming alcohol in the range of 1.5 to over 2.5 parts per million, and one was revoked after an administrative penalty was imposed.
In the cases, expedited proceedings were initiated in the first, third, fourth and fifth RU in Plovdiv, as well as in the regional offices in Asenovgrad and Stamboliyski.
