Each new case in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a real event, which causes significant market changes. In the first three days of the new case release, the servers are crowded with a huge number of bots. People are in fewer just to get as most cases as possible to make the most profit. And that’s not surprising, because new cases usually cost more than 10$ in the first couple of hours, and about 5-7 dollars in the next two days. And the CS20 case wasn’t an exception.
Why CS20 case is great?
The adding of CS20 was a heartwarming event for the majority of the Counter-Strike community. The name of the case tells that it was released on the 20th birthday of the very first version of CS. Many players remember that moment and were excited to see different easter-eggs.
The case includes 17 unique skins, which truly follow the spirit of Counter-Strike:

All these skins refer not only to classical objects in CS 1.6, but also to some significant CS:GO moments, such as olofmeister’s clutch during ESL One Cologne, or CS operations.
Moreover, all CS 1.6 fans were happy with the new knife added. That was a Classic Knife. It looks exactly like the one in CS 1.6 but with skins now. The skins on the Classic knife included: Night Stripe, Crimson Web, Urban Masked, Slaughter, Forest DDPAT, Blue Still, Stained, Scorched, Vanilla, Boreal Forest, Fade, Safari Mesh.
All the paintings on the knife look extremely good, and even a bad float cannot spoil the look of the appreciated item. And the great thing was that Classic Knives are obtainable only from the CS20 case.
All these skins were made with the spirit of CS, including different interesting details for all the fans of this game. So that, the first day of the case was released, the price on it was about 7 dollars. However, in two days people started selling it for only 2 dollars, and in a month the price of the CS20 case was only 20 cents.
Prices on the CS20 skins
The most expensive Mil-Spec skin on the case is StatTrak Glock-18| Sacrifice (Factory New). It costs 5-6 dollars on the Steam Market. The other Mil-Spec can barely reach the 2$ mark.
Restricted skins are up to 12 dollars. The most expensive Restricted item is StatTrak MP5-SD| Agent (Factory New). The other skins are from 30 cents to 4 dollars.
Classified skins are interesting. In spite of the fact, that the weapons in this section are not that popular, the most expensive skin is MP9| Hydra. Its Factory New StatTrak version costs 30 dollars. But restricted weapons are starting from 3 dollars, so that, even they may be not that profitable.
And really interesting skins are AWP and Famas. The situation with these skins is classical. AWP is expensive, while Famas is cheap. The cheapest Famas is only 10 dollars which is extremely low for a Covert item. StatTrak Factory New Famas would be 70 dollars. However, the cheapest AWP on the market is for 27 dollars, while StatTrak Factory New one comes for 340 dollars. Of course, the odds of getting a StatTrak covert item are even lower than the chance of getting a knife, but it’s still possible.
And knives are also interesting. Even the lowest quality Classic Knife| Safari Mesh would cost 112 dollars. The price is fine. The most expensive pattern for knives is Crimson Web (Factory New). This one will be for 3000 dollars.
But the skins are rather cheap, so that, the price of the CS20 case is not increasing.
Investments in CS20 case
When the case was added to the CSGO, people started thinking about the opportunity to invest in it. And it’s not surprising. There are about three cases added a year, so finding the right one to invest in might be an interesting deal.
However, not many people decided to invest in the CS20 case, because it didn’t seem possible that the price will be increased. Even the fact, that there is an exclusive knife in the container didn’t make it more desirable for investors.
And that was a piece of good news for many users. People enjoyed the case because it was only about 7 cents. The price didn’t increase, while people could buy a cheap container to open it.
Of course, some people bought CS20 cases as an investment. And they couldn’t even imagine, that they were doing the right thing.
The major upgrade on the 3rd of June
Valve loves ruining the economy in their game. We just need to remember the upgrade, which added a 7-days ban on new items in users’ inventories. This ruined the work of many trading and gambling websites.
And the update on the 3rd of June had a risk to cause some market changes. Valve made CS:GO a paid game. Before the upgrade, Unprimed players had an opportunity to play Ranked games, obtain cases and skins for playing, promote to the Prime status. However, the upgrade ruined the fun for people who did not have Prime status. All the features were gone. And Unprimed players lost the opportunity to get items.
The only issue was that only Unprimed users could get the CS20 case. And now the opportunity was gone. The price of the crate increased immediately from 7 cents to 40 cents. It was almost 6x profit. People, who really invested in the CS20 case were just fine. However, many people thought that this container will be more and more valuable and started purchasing them for 40 cents each. And now it is only 12 cents per case.
Should people invest in CS20 now?
Investment in CS:GO is weird nowadays. Back in 2016, you could buy cases or capsules to get more money in the future. But now, too many people started investing in cases different consumables.
Nevertheless, it is still possible to have a profit from it, but it will take much more time. It would be great for investors to buy about 200 cases now. They cost only 12 cents. Only 24 dollars and you’ll have to just wait.
However, if you have to choose between CS20 and older cases, you should take a look at Danger Zone cases. They are older and cheaper, while including expensive and varying skins.
But CS20 are great cases with interesting items, good prices on them, and an exclusive knife type. They will be more expensive, but that is a matter of time.
