Trade unions and employees are reacting fairly sympathetically to Unilin’s decision to stop production of QuickStep laminate for three weeks during the autumn and Christmas holidays. About 1,000 employees become temporarily unemployed and fall back on 70% of their income for a few days or three weeks. “We had already seen it coming,” says David Declerck, who has been a Unilin employee for 13 years. “Not even my employer can do anything about it.”
