The Magic is still looking for a successor to Steve Clifford for the post of head coach, and according to The Athletic, among the candidates there would be a certain Penny Hardaway, legend of the franchise. He reportedly even emerged as a strong candidate for the job after going through an interview.
The 49-year-old former All-Star played in Orlando from 1993 to 1999 and since 2018 has been head of Memphis College, where he has built a good reputation as a coach.
There is competition, however, as the Magic have reportedly requested permission to speak with
- Willie Green, assistant coach at the Suns
- Charles Lee, assistant coach aux Bucks
- Jamahl Mosley, assistant coach at Mavs
- Becky Hammon, assistant to Spurs (she has already had an interview)
But assistants from Steve Clifford’s staff would also be in the running: Tyrone Corbin, Pat Delany and Steve Hetzel.
