27. This is the number of companies that have decided to participate in a recruitment “anti-forum” organized by the Web school factory this Thursday, April 15 – three times more than last year. In front of them, for the 2021 edition, 75 3rd year students from this school specializing in digital professions are participating in the online event – confinement requires. In total, more than 100 interviews are scheduled for this day of “Reverse recruitment”.
In this forum, any CV is prohibited. To replace this document, which is nevertheless decisive for hiring, the student-candidates filled in upstream “ideal job descriptions”, detailing the missions they want to carry out within the company they meet.
Looking for a work-study program for his 4th year, Mathias, 21, a design student wrote three: one for Natixis, another for Happytal, an online health services platform, and one for Acadomia. “It’s a great opportunity to reverse the balance of power. We can talk in a privileged way with companies that take the time to listen to us ”, sums up the young man.
An “ideal job description”
Formally, the card which makes an A4 page is broken down into three parts. The first is focused on the targeted “ideal” company and responds to « why i want to work for you in particular ». The second supports the missions that the student could fulfill within this organization, and finally the last part is dedicated to the candidate’s profile: his skills, his strengths, why he is made for this position. The level of detail goes up to the type of contract sought and its duration.
In addition to serious preparation before the interview for the candidate, this method allows the company to assess all the skills of the students, while discovering emerging professions in identified fields. Beforehand, to convince the students to apply, each of the companies informed their needs and specificities. In short, the process is well framed, it is a “match” orchestrated by the Web school factory.
Even if it means “overplaying”
Businesses are playing the game. “We have to convince the students to come to us, even if it means overplaying, explains Rodolphe Barquin, responsible for events and communication in innovation at La Française des Jeux (FDJ). This antiforum allows us both to fill positions but also to stay alert on new jobs. ” The two FDJ recruiting pairs saw three candidates in one hour. Their main objective is to find their new apprentice on the innovation missions for next year.
Without really reversing the balance of power, recruiting in this way is intended to be the first step in a balanced and benevolent integration for the chosen student. “In this period of health crisis, we have the responsibility to reach out by putting ourselves at the same level as the candidate”, analyze the responsible FDJ.
The profile of the participating companies is heterogeneous. These include large groups such as Engie or Crédit du Nord as well as mid-size companies, SMEs or start-ups. And those who have already participated in previous editions are coming back, the company By Jardin, which had already recruited two people in previous editions. It remains to be seen: if the number of participating companies tripled in 2021, will the number of contracts signed at the end also triple?
