WEEKEND TALK: Walker speaks out about the scandal

No one can have escaped the fact that Kyle Walker’s private life is in a state of flux. The Man City player now chooses to speak out about the latest scandal in The Sun, that he cheated on his wife Annie with whom he is expecting a fourth child – and recently had a (second) child with the other woman.

– What I have done is terrible and I take full responsibility for it, says Walker to the newspaper.

– I have made idiotic choices and made idiotic decisions. I can’t imagine what Annie is going through. I’ve tried to ask her, but it’s too painful.

Walker believes he had a lot on the table when the infidelity happened.

– It wasn’t deliberate or planned, but I slept with her. There was a lot going on, although that’s no excuse. I had pulled my groin and needed time to get in shape for the WC, he says.

That the right-back was close to a move to Bayern Munich is explained by the fact that he wanted to escape from the scandal. The secret was not revealed until December 2023 when the woman herself contacted Annie.

Walker takes the opportunity to thank coach Pep Guardiola for his support.

– I didn’t want to tell him because I didn’t want him to think I wasn’t mentally capable. I can’t thank him enough for his understanding and faith in me over these four years, Walker said.

QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: Trippier about Bayern

– It is always a compliment when a team like Bayern shows interest in you. I have had many conversations with the coach (Eddie Howe) and have been very positive overall. I haven’t said much but I haven’t thrown my toys out of the pram either, says Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle snubbed several bids for Trippier from the German big club. The right-back assures that he will remain in the Premier League and is fully focused.

SCANDAL SCENES OF THE WEEKEND: Supporter taken to hospital

West Bromwich may be punished after the riot in connection with the FA Cup derby against great rival Wolverhampton, reports the BBC.

The match was temporarily halted with ten minutes remaining in regulation time when a fight broke out in one section and supporters from the other side of the arena ran across the pitch to connect. West Midlands Police confirmed yesterday that several arrests had been made and that one person had been taken to hospital with head injuries.

Furthermore, the FA will investigate the incident, which is now highly unusual in English football. The meeting, which Wolves eventually won 2–0, was the first in front of spectators between the teams in twelve years.

WEEKEND WSL: Eidevall celebrated a hundred

Arsenal beat Liverpool 2–0 away in Jonas Eidevall’s 100th match as coach for the club.

– It is impossible to step into Arsenal and not change for the better in one way or another, says Eidevall according to The Guardian.

– The club’s values and the way you have to represent the club both on and off the pitch make you a better person.

Another Swedish team, Chelsea, still tops the WSL table after 3-0 against Brighton.
