In the 60th minute of the match, Alejandro Balde fell to the ground and touched his left thigh. After the doctors had come in, it was decided that he should be substituted. Gerard Martín, the Barça Atlètic full-back who is getting minutes under Hansi Flick this pre-season, came on for him. As he was making his way to the changing rooms, Balde was heard saying “I can’t take it anymore.”
A priori, The full-back’s discomfort is different from the injury he suffered in January at San Mamés. Then, he suffered a puncture less than half an hour into the game, causing his hand to touch the back of his thigh. That injury forced him to undergo surgery and he was out of action for five months, a complicated history of muscle injuries. This year he looked much better physically, as he had participated in all the friendlies this preseason.
What injury does Balde have?
It is still too early to know the extent of Alejandro Balde’s injury. The full-back showed symptoms of pain in his left leg after a clash with Thierry. Apparently, it should be nothing more than a simple knock in the area.. “I think it’s okay“When we get home, we’ll check what’s wrong,” Hansi Flick said after the match.
For its part, Alejandro Balde confirmed Flick’s words through a story on his Instagram account moments after the final whistle. “+3. It was just a bump, everything is fine“, wrote the full-back on a photograph of himself.
How long will Balde be out?
It is still unknown how long Balde will be out. Barça has not yet made public the medical report on the injury.
