What have they become ? Zoran Durdevic has lost none of his love for basketball … and his mysterious side!

Those who would like to know more about Zoran Durdevic, at least about his life outside the basketball courts, will be at their cost. The native of Sarajevo (Bosnia), who spent eleven years on the Chartrain bench, is always unmoved when asked how he occupies his time. “I am still in France”, responds the person concerned, always letting suspense hover … “You know, I never talk about my private life! “Coach Zoran” adds with his delicious Slavic accent.

Enigmatic, mysterious, indistinguishable

Ten years later, Zoran is still doing Durdevic. Enigmatic, mysterious, indistinguishable. On the other hand, on the orange ball, his tongue unties. Even if it was not always the case when he was on the bench at UB. Some subjects, such as injuries to his players, were taboo. Zoran Durdevic remained impenetrable. An example ? When one of his major players, Ljubomir Avramovic, stayed away from the field for several weeks, it was not until the return of the Serbian interior to learn the bare minimum: “A back problem”.

Looking for a club in France

After his departure from Chartres in 2012, Zoran Durdevic disappeared from radar. Before resurfacing, three years later, at the bedside of the relegation Aurore Vitré (N1). Under the baton of “Sorcerer Zoran”, the promoted Breton managed an incredible comeback, aligning 15 successes in 22 matches, and saved his head.

UB, Zoran Durdevic’s heart club

“It was an extraordinary achievement,” recalls the former Yugoslavian. When I arrived, there were a lot of conflicts in the team… ”The following season, despite a good squad including the current Chartrain Yann Siegwarth, was more painful. Durdevic even left a wound-plagued Aurora at the dawn of its twilight… five days from the end of the championship.

I only made a round trip (to Mulhouse), the club was in liquidation.

A hoped-for time in Mulhouse (N2 – “I only made a round trip, the club was in liquidation” – Zoran bounced back a little later with another promoted from N1, Aubenas. “The situation was even more complex that in Vitré, the players were not at the level, we can not always do miracles. ”And he could not avoid the relegation of the Ardèche club.

Two years after this experience, Zoran Durdevic is now looking for a club. “More in France, because there are things to do here, and also because this country has given me a lot”.

A decade in Chartres. A long process of undermining before a meteoric rise. When Zoran Durdevic signed for UB Chartres in 2001, the club was sailing between regional and N3. Immediately, the technician puts his paw down. “Work, work and work” will be the leitmotif of a demanding and rigorous coach. But success was not immediately there, due first of all to an extrasporting event which would delay the club’s rise. In December 2002, two players, including the figurehead, the Central African Christian Malibangar, waved the “various facts” section. The club plunges back into regional before starting its transformation from 2007 by “slaving”, with the Croatian (current manager) Milan Vasic and the Serbian Bojan Tadic, two ex of LNB. With the arrival of Gautier Lemon in 2008 and then of another Serbian, Ljubomir Avramovic, in 2009, history is on the move. In two years, the UB went from the N3 to the N1. Relegated at the end of his first season, Chartres is drafted which does not prevent the dismissal of Zoran Durdevic. The love affair between Coach Zoran and UB is consumed.
