MailOnline interviewed experts to understand, and see the chance that humans will still exist if this astronomical disaster occurs.

Scientists estimate our Sun is about 4.5 billion years old, about halfway from its 9 billion or 10 billion year life.

When the Sun begins to die, it will expand into a red giant, becoming so large that it could devour the planets Mercury and Venus, and possibly Earth as well.

Of course, in another 4 or 5 billion years humanity will probably be gone, such as being swept away by a climatic catastrophe or colliding with an asteroid.
