Due to these recommendations, studies and events related to the virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended since Monday, October 11, that patients from certain groups at risk receive an additional third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Third reinforcement against COVID-19 in Costa Rica
Despite this panorama, at the moment in Costa Rica only the third vaccine is given to certain population groups and the panorama in the country in the face of reinforcements against COVID-19 is complex.
The National Commission for Vaccination and Epidemiology (CNVE) reported that the incoming vaccine batches for 2022, which will be used to reinforce with the third dose, They will only be placed for the following populations:
- Immunosuppressed people
- Over 58 years old
- First responders
This mainly because there are not enough doses to distribute to all age groups Therefore, it is assumed that the process will be the same as that carried out months ago with the first and second vaccines.

When can the third dose be placed?
