Every May 10, Mother’s Day is celebrated, being a date of great meaning for many people. Among the most common celebrations is playing the song “Señora, Señora” a melody that has already become one with this day.
Despite being one of the most popular songs of this date, pfew people know who performs this piececonfusing its author with other singers. The author of this work is the Brazilian-Mexican singer Denisse de Kalafe.
De Kalafe was born in Ponta Grossa, Brazil, in 1949. It would not be until his youth when he came to Mexicoa country that he adopted as his new homeland and where he forged the best moments of his career, the same one that took off in the 70s.
During the 80s she released the popular song “Señora, Señora” which became a hymn to mothers, and earned her maximum recognition, so much so that she sang on the programs “Siempre en Domingo” with Raúl Velasco and “24 Horas” with Jacobo Zabludovsky, two of the most important programs in Mexico in those years and which catapulted the careers of the invited artists.
The artist confessed that the song comes from a nostalgic moment when he missed his mothercomposing the beautiful verses that make up the work.
The singer continued releasing new material during the following years, with “Detalles” being her last album released, this in 2012. He never managed to regain the popularity he achieved in his prime, but he remained inscribed in the history of Mexican music.
Currently, De Kalafe lives in a closed area in Holbox, in the Riviera Maya, where she still composes songs and has stayed away from the public eye.
