The artist was adored by all Soviet citizens.
In the USSR, singers from the Baltic States enjoyed special popularity and honor. One of my favorite artists was Tõnis Mägi from Estonia. How was his life after he left the Soviet stage?
Mägi won great love of the audience thanks to his charm and pleasant voice. Tõnis even performed the main song of the 1980 Olympics, which took place in the USSR. He also performed the hits “Stop the Music”, “I Can’t Dance” and “Detective”, which became all-Union hits.
In the second half of the 80s, Myagi’s popularity in the RSFSR began to decline. Then the artist decided to return to his homeland and change the repertoire. Tõnis began to compose his own songs with a deep philosophical meaning. Today, the artist serves in one of the drama theaters in Estonia and often appears on stage. He has roles in the performances “War and Peace” and “Three Sisters”.
The 74-year-old artist is still in demand at home. Tõnis recalls the Soviet period of his career with warmth and nostalgia. About how his life changed after the USSR, Tynis told the correspondents of the publication “Arguments of the week».
