Few people could imagine Christmas and the Christmas holidays without the popular fairy tale Prince and Večernice, where the charming Libuška Šafránková (†68) and the brave Juraj Ďurdiak (71) played the main roles. 45 years have already passed since the filming of the fairy tale, and the Slovak actor has changed beyond recognition – in other words, today you would hardly find the handsome hairy prince in him. Juraj Ďurdiak (71) was born on April 27, 1952 in Bratislava and dedicated his whole life to acting, music and, at one time, to business. He studied opera singing at the Bratislava Conservatory and then acting at the VŠMU. Since 1972, he began to appear on television screens, and viewers can remember him, for example, from pictures Long waiting (1975), Piano in the air (1976) or Eyes like stars (1977).
In 1978 came his fateful role, namely the role of Prince Velen from the fairy tale Prince a Večernice from the director Václav Vorlíček (†88). Among his other important film roles is the hygienist Pavel Tomáš from the drama Clean river (1978) or the frustrated son of a translator from a psychological film Where no one is allowed (1979).
But Ďurdiak also had a great love for the theater and in 1983 he became a member of the Bratislava New Stage Theatres, which made his dream come true. In addition, he also devoted himself to opera singing and even tried his hand at business in the nineties. That is when he opened his cafe in the Old Town in Bratislava In Anjelov. At one time, he also worked as a teacher and lectured at the State Conservatory in Bratislava.
He suffered a stroke at the age of fifty-six and has been dealing with its effects ever since, compounded by heart problems in recent years. Despite his health problems, he is still engaged in acting here and there, in the last three years he has acted in serials New life, Yvette, HOSPITAL whether Winner. As for movies, the audience could see him in pictures Kidnapping from 2017 or Prague orgies (2019). In his spare time, he goes to nature and is also an avid reader.
