The actor Bernard Hill, who died at the age of 79, was recognized for his participation in various series and films, such as Titanic (1997) and The Lord of the Rings (2001).
This May 5, through a statement shared with the BBC, Bernard Hill’s agent, Lou Coulson, confirmed the actor’s death.
“A great loss and also a great surprise… You always had the feeling that Bernard would live forever. “He had great strength, physically and personality,” can be read in the statement that Lou Coulson wrote.

Despite having confirmed the death of Bernard Hill, Lou Coulson did not reveal the reasons behind the actor’s death. He took advantage of the message he sent to the BBC to talk about the professional career of his client:
“I was desperate to work with him. Everything he did, the way he worked, the way he did it and his performance was everything you could want… (In Boys from the Blackstuff) it was an amazing, hypnotic performance; Bernard gave it his all and you can see it in every scene. He became Yosser Hughes.”
Prior to the revelation of his death, Hill was scheduled to be part of a Lord of the Rings cast reunion at Liverpool Comic Con; However, it was announced that the interpreter was going to be absent due to health problems of his partner.
“Because Bernard’s partner is very ill, he can no longer attend the event. “He presents his most sincere apologies and thanks you for your understanding,” mentions a message from Comic Con on his Facebook account.
Despite this, there is no knowledge of any health problems that his wife, actress Marianna Hill, has had.
Bernard Hill died hours before the premiere of an episode of The Responder, a television series starring Martin Freeman, in which he participated.
According to The Daily Mail, in The Responder, Bernard Hill played the main character’s father.

Bernard Hill was an actor originally from the north of England who showed interest in dramatic art from an early age.
In 1982, Hill debuted on the small screen with a leading role in the series Boys from the Blackstuff in which he shared credits with Michael Angelis, Alan Igbon, Julie Walters, among other performers.
In the late 1990s, Bernard Hill rose to fame with one of director James Cameron’s most popular films, Titanic, in which he starred as the ship’s captain.
However, Bernard Hill’s most iconic role was in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where he stepped into the shoes of Théoden king of Rohan.
“It is with great sadness that I learn of the death of Bernard Hill. We worked together on John, Paul, George, Ringo and Bert, (by) Willy Russell, wonderful show 1974-1975. A truly wonderful actor. It was a privilege to have crossed paths with him,” wrote actress Bárbara Dickson on her X account.
In addition to the series The Responder, it is not known if Bernard Hill had plans to return to acting in a film or television production.
