A few days before the resumption of collective training, RC Lens will have to manage the return of certain players loaned out last season. And the future looks particularly hazy for some of them. This is the case of Tom Ducrocq victim of a long injury.
His recent loan
The adventure had started so well for Tom Ducrocq. Left on loan at Bastia for the second time in a row, he played 17 matches in Ligue 2 BKT, including 15 as a starter. Actor of the rise during the 2020/2021 exercise, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder quickly got up to speed. But the native of Nordausques will surely keep a bitter taste from this season in the second division because of injuries. Including one at the hip which kept the young player of 1m76 away from the field for four months. His last match played dates back to February 14 against Le Havre.
His contractual situation
Tom Ducrocq is under contract with RC Lens until June 30, 2024. He is back at the club after being loaned out twice to Corsica.
His place in the squad
Competition is fierce for the position of defensive midfielder with the Sang et Or, between Seko Fofana, Cheick Doucouré and Patrick Berg. Even with the retirement of Yannick Cahuzac, the current Bastia player would have a hard time establishing himself as a starter. Even though he has progressed, the level of Ligue 1 Uber Eats still seems too high for him. tom Ducrocq only played half the season in the second division. Sporting number 25 should not stay with the club next season.
The editor’s prognosis
The leaders of RC Lens should favor a loan for the French midfielder trained at the club. With his ability to adapt, he easily imposed himself within the workforce of Bastia. A full year in a Ligue 2 BKT formation could allow him to harden up. This rough young player (six yellow cards in 20 games last season) could perhaps win in the north of France in the coming years.
