News for Teatro a Mil, one of the country’s great artistic institutions in recent decades. Two groundbreaking and hilarious comedies, full of symbolism and metaphors, from different places in the world, are The first confirmed shows that will be presented at the Las Condes Municipal Theater as part of the International Teatro a Mil Festival – presented by the Teatro a Mil Foundation and Escondida | BHP – which will run from January 3 to 26, 2025.
From Argentina, it arrives with only two functions –On January 7 and 8, one of the great successes of the trans-Andean billboard: Infernothe latest creation of El Patrón Vázquez, a company that has been on stage for 30 years. The text was commissioned to director Rafael Spregelburd by the Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz of Austria to celebrate the 500th anniversary of El Bosco and is inspired by the famous work The Garden of Earthly Delights by the painter from the Netherlands.
This is an ironic and absurd comedy that places a confused journalist lost in Santiago de Chile, stuck in a nightmarish place where two catechists appear to inform him that the Vatican has abolished hell. From there begins a hilarious story in which the journalist must go in search of the seven virtues that will save his soul from the true hell on Earth.
Meanwhile, from Greece lands on January 17-19, LAPIS LAZULIthe most recent work of the restless and groundbreaking Greek director Euripides Laskaridiswinner of the prestigious Pina Bausch scholarship in 2016, who invokes the earthly and celestial origin of the semi-precious stone – known for its unique and unpredictable behavior under pressure – to explore transformation and the ridiculous on stage. A visual and theatrical experience that mixes dance, performance and visual arts.

Both Inferno as LAPIS LAZULI They are works full of symbolism, with different layers of interpretations. “We are a country crossed by a hellish trauma, that of the dictatorship, and we are still imagining how to stammer outside of that taboo. We are somewhat unbridled comedians who are given to painting with uncomfortable humor the darkest hours of our common hell,” he comments. LAPIS LAZULIfor its part, is an international co-production involving Greece, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Finland and Bulgaria, released in April 2024 in Athens (Greece) and which marked the return of Laskaridis after his trilogy of works composed of RELIC (2015), TITANS (2017) and ELENIT (2019) that continue to tour the world.
