What does the greatest Spanish expert on coronavirus think about what the Government and the opposition have done | Society

The CSIC scientist Luis Enjuanes, who leads the investigations of the Spanish vaccine against COVID and who is considered the greatest expert on coronavirus in the country, has highlighted “the effective response” of the Government to control the epidemic and its “mettle in the face of the political situation, of many parties that were simply seeking editorial revenue”.

Enjuanes, head of the CNB’s coronavirus laboratory, received this Monday the Silver Medal for Merit in Research and University Education in an act that also recognized with the Gold Medal posthumously to the biochemist Margarita Salas and the historian Santos Juliá.

“There are many people who hesitate between supporting the Government to increase pressure measures to control the pandemic or releasing the issue to improve the economy,” Enjuanes added. “There is no doubt, what you have to do is control the pandemic because without it the economy will not improve at all”.

In his speech, Enjuanes stressed that “we must be very grateful” to the Executive of Pedro Sánchez “for the effectiveness they have had in controlling the epidemic.” The virologist has assured that “we must continue working” to fight against outbreaks, which “are controllable.”

Enjuanes recalled that the countries that first came out and recovered from the crisis caused by the 1918 flu were those that intervened earlier and with more force.
