WhatsApp introduced a new feature that lets you send yourself messages like reminders and shopping lists, and Meta confirmed with TechCrunch that the feature, called Send to Yourself, was first spotted by WaBetaInfo a few weeks ago as part of a beta test. It will be rolled out globally to iOS and Android users in the coming weeks.
Once you get the update, you’ll be able to see your new messages at the top of your contact list as they’re being created, and you’ll be able to send notes, reminders, shopping lists, and more by tapping on them. You may need to remember
The resulting notification, when enabled, helps ensure that you don’t lose sight of your self-note, and users can also pin your own chats to the top of their chat list for easier access.
Prior to this feature, you could only message yourself by creating a group with you as a member or using the apps ‘top up chat’ feature, both of which are a workaround at best, and the Rival Signal platform. It actually offers a feature called “Note to Self” that does the same thing, though it’s buried in your contacts list instead of being available at the top, which it would be on Android or iOS.
