What does it mean if you see the girl or the old woman

This optical illusion has depopulated on the net and then ended up in the hands of two professors of psychology who wondered why some see the young woman and others the old woman. So they conducted a study looking for some kind of relationship between those who claim to see the young lady first and those who see the old woman first.

The studio which took place in Australia involved 393 participants aged between 18 and 70 years. He was shown the photo for only half a second and asked to indicate the gender and age of the person portrayed in the image. Well it has been noted that the older people saw the old woman first, while the group composed of the younger ones saw the girl first.

Therefore, what was supported by the thesis underlying the study was confirmed, namely that age prejudices influence the initial interpretation of an image at a subconscious level. In other words, older people project themselves into a world populated by elderly people and this affects the interpretation of what they see, an operation opposite to what young people do.

The study found that while the 18-30 group always saw the girl first, the middle group was less compact. A sign that, beyond the age, it also affects perceived age. So put yourself to the test!
