If you just got into a podcast, your neighbors start drilling. You can sometimes miss a word that is said. Or maybe you’d rather read what is being said instead of listening to it anyway. Spotify now comes up with the solution. It’s going to automatically transcribe podcasts. So you get to see in text what is said in audio.

Spotify-original podcasts
It is still a beta version. The text is not created until the person speaks: there is really a text variant of the podcast available and wherever you click in the text, you will automatically go to that moment in the audio. Initially, this new feature will be released on Spotify exclusive originals, but the plan is to bring it to all podcasts on Spotify. That would mean that it does not only apply to English-language podcasts, but also Dutch-language ones. It will probably take a while before that is actually reality.
Although podcast makers hope that you listen to the entire podcast, it is nice to be able to immediately skip to the moment that caught your attention. Most podcasts are quite long and consist of several segments, so you may prefer to skip straight to the topic that interests you. But even if you simply prefer to read rather than listen, you can still take advantage of the information from the podcast in this way.

Accessible
If you use Spotify for music instead of podcasts, there is news for you too. The appearance of the app is being changed here and there. The colors of buttons change and the shape and size of the text. This is not so much a choice for beauty reasons, but mainly to ensure that people with a visual impairment can make better use of the app.
Specifically for iOS users, they can make the text as big as they want by going to Settings> Accessibility> Display and Text Size. In addition, the app would then be more visible if, for example, sun shines on your screen. A big plus, because here the app does indeed have something to gain. Especially if you wear earphones or headphones with few options for skipping a song, this can help enormously when you are outside.
