What do NCAA conferences look like after realignment?

The mass exodus of teams changed the landscape this year in the main conferences of college football

College football will look different in 2024. There’s a new 12-team playoff, but there’s also 15 programs that moved to new conferences.

There are a lot of moves to keep track of, which is why we are here to help. Below you will find the conference realignment scheduled to begin this fall, from the Big Ten to the Big South and everything in between. We listed what each conference looked like in 2023 so you can compare if they had a change in their teams.

ACC

The ACC Now it has 17 universities after adding Cal, SMU y Stanford for the 2024-2025 season.

Teams in 2023: Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest.

Teams in 2024: Boston College, Cal, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, SMU, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest.

Big Ten

The Big Ten Now it has 18 programs after adding Oregon, USC, UCLA y Washington for the 2024-2025 season.

Teams in 2023: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsin.

Big 12

The Big 12 now has 16 teams after adding Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado y Utahbut also lost Oklahoma y Texas for the 2024-2025 season.

Pac-12

The Pac-12 is now the “Pac-2” after losing all but two programs for the 2024-2025 season. Oregon State will play seven games against universities in the Mountain West and Washington State will play eight games against the MWC.

SEC

The SEC Now it has 16 universities after adding Oklahoma y Texas for the 2024-2025 season.

2023: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miss. State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt

AAC

The ACC remains a 14-team conference after integrating Army in its ranks, but lost to SMU for the 2024-2025 season.

Conference USA

Now the Conference USA has 10 programs after adding Kennesaw State for the 2024-2025 season.

Teams in 2023: FIU, Jacksonville State, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, Sam Houston, UTEP, Western Kentucky.

2024: FIU, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State, Sam Houston, UTEP, Western Kentucky

Mid-American

The MAC remains with 12 teams, without changes for the 2024-2025 season.

Teams in 2024: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan

Mountain West

The Mountain West remains with 12 teams, but will play 15 games combined against Oregon State and Washington State, seven against the Beavers and eight against the Cougars.

Sun Belt

The Sun Belt continues with 14 programs for the 2024-2025 season.

Teams in 2024: Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, Marshall, Old Dominion, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State, Troy
