What did ITN and BSP agree on in the cabinet negotiations – Bulgaria

“We followed the program proposed by the BSP, and it is almost the same from the coalition government, so we have no differences in it.”

This was said by Toshko Yordanov from “Ima Talik Narod” after the meeting with the BSP to form a government.

“There are some discrepancies, and since it was done without us, we brought in some of our proposals. The conversation was constructive, and the Administrative and Legislative Program overlaps with our views,” Iva Miteva from ITN clarified.

“Regarding the Anti-Corruption Law, we are united around the fact that this legislation should be passed – this is clearly the expectation of the public, therefore we will today support the Bill on the first vote in the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs with all our remarks and objections. We will we insist, however, that a public discussion be held before the law is introduced and seen in the plenary hall. I hope that next week the law will be adopted in the first vote in the hall. We will also support the election rules for electing the head of the National Committee for National Security and Prevention. This is what we insist on ever since the resignation of Sotir Tsatsarov,” Miteva pointed out.

“I hope that the most worthy candidate will be elected, we have no strong objections to the candidacy of Boyko Rashkov, but writing down a specific name makes the procedural rules meaningless, otherwise it would mean directly going in and electing him. We follow the procedure and proceed to a proposal for the chairman of KPCONPI, so Boyko Rashkov’s name remains on the table, but it must first be submitted and voted on,” Miteva added.

“Regarding the rest of the program, we have many points of contact, but it must be updated because of all the laws that have already been adopted,” Miteva specified.

“At the meeting with the BSP, the personnel composition of the possible future Council of Ministers was not discussed, today we only talked about the program, priorities and policies”, added Toshko Yordanov.

“We have no qualitative differences, ITN proposed some social proposals that are acceptable to us. They will present them to us in writing so that we can discuss them with the other parties,” said BSP leader Cornelia Ninova after the meeting with ITN.

“Today, as a first conversation, we would like to clarify a few issues, we have a series of talks ahead of us, but let’s start today to clarify the principled talks. First, we declare absolutely categorically that we have serious intentions to try to form a government, because we know what awaits us in the coming months , the state and the people. We have no intention of wasting time with futile negotiations and imitations of negotiations. We just have to say today, yes, we will do it, or we won’t do it, and let it be known that we are going to elections.”addressed the representatives of “There is such a people” at the beginning of the Ninova meeting.

“Today we will show whether we have wisdom, reason, leadership. We are ready for talks, for constructive talks. Our consistent opinion is that elections are not necessary at the moment, that elections will not lead to better results,” said Iva Miteva .

“We are familiar with the program, we will comment on it with you later. We have a match on almost all points,” said Miteva.

“We have already stated that we will be constructive and we want to have a government from the four parties that we have ruled until now,” said Toshko Yordanov.

“The developed program largely covers our coalition agreement, we have some notes on it, but we are ready to discuss them,” he added.

“The most difficult thing is to restore the dialogue between ITN and PP,” commented BSP leader Cornelia Ninova immediately after the third mandate was handed over.

“The ITN have no conflict with the BSP, which has the difficult task of uniting the coalition parties. It is not logical for Asen Vassilev and Kiril Petkov to be in the executive branch,” commented Stanislav Balabanov, a member of parliament from “There is such a people”, a few days ago.

He refused to name who would be the most suitable candidate for prime minister. “We were blinded by the fact that these people had graduated abroad, that they had the necessary education, that they were prepared, but six months later it turned out that they had taken over the power,” Balabanov pointed out.

ITNs are not afraid of elections and do not try to stay in power. If it is not possible to continue together, there is nothing more wonderful than going to the polls again, the MP clarified.

If it comes to new early parliamentary elections, ITN will appear independently and not in a coalition, the party insists.

On Tuesday, the mandate holder held consultations with “We continue the change” (PP), talks are also forthcoming with “Democratic Bulgaria” (DB).

After the meeting, the BSP and the PP reaffirmed the already prepared program and announced that the name of the prime minister would be made clear if a majority was secured for the policies in it.

The BSP believes that the candidate for prime minister should be nominated by the PP – the largest political force in the parliament.

After that, we will have a second round of talks after making sure that we have a majority on the administrative and legislative program, Ninova added.

She assured that the demands of all partners will be heard at the first talks and then agreement will be sought on the rest of the issues.

If the BSP fails to muster a majority for a regular cabinet with the third mandate, the 47th parliament will be dissolved by the president.
