Stomach bloating usually occurs when a person finishes eating a meal, but if the meal is not finished yet, this bloating may indicate a serious infection.
One of the primary conditions that can lead to bloating is giardiasis, which is a microscopic parasite in the abdomen that causes symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, flatulence and nausea, according to the British National Health Service, according to Russia Today.
It usually goes away within about a week if treated, but can sometimes last longer.
There are many ways by which one can contract giardiasis, or as it is also known as giardia, or beaver bend, such as:
Drinking water that has not been treated to kill germs, and the entry of water into the mouth while swimming in places such as lakes, rivers or swimming pools.
Eating food that was washed in untreated water or touched by a sick person, touching surfaces that an infected person touched.
Giardiasis is an inflammation of the small intestine. It is caused by a microscopic parasite called Giardia lamblia. Giardiasis is spread through contact with infected people.
The parasite was found in the feces of animals and humans. These parasites also reproduce in contaminated food, water, and soil, and can survive outside the host for long periods of time.

The Mayo Clinic Foundation said giardiasis is an intestinal infection characterized by abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and bouts of watery diarrhea.

But you may have intestinal problems long after the parasites have disappeared, and “Many drugs are generally effective against giardiasis, but not everyone responds to them.”
