What crossovers will appear on the Ukrainian market: the most anticipated new products of 2024

In our review, there was a place for both updated cars that will be shown to us after a facelift, and completely new models – all new, as the manufacturers themselves say at presentations.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The completely new model, presented to the world this fall, will be 3 cm longer, with an increased interior and trunk. According to the official importer, the new product will be available with gasoline (1.5 l and 2.0 l) and diesel engines (2.0 l), as well as in a hybrid configuration with the ability to recharge from an outlet. For powerful engines, a 4×4 transmission is available, and all gearboxes will be exclusively re-selective DSG in 6 and 7 stages. The hybrid can travel 100 km on purely electric drive. In terms of design, the new Tiguan uses the latest MQB Evo technical platform, which has already been tested on fifteen other VAG models.

News from Nissan

The Japanese brand, popular in Ukraine, promises to bring us several updated models next year, including the Juke and Qashqai crossovers. As we were told at the Ukrainian representative office of Nissan, both models will receive new technological equipment and the latest versions of multimedia systems in the cabin. The content of the packages will also change according to the wishes of customers, including Ukrainian ones. Nissan representatives in our country promise to provide more detailed information about the new products and the date when they will appear on the Ukrainian market closer to the start of sales.

Porsche Cayenne GTS

No one has seen this car yet, but the Ukrainian representative office of the company assured us that it will definitely be there, because without the GTS version the Cayenne line remains incomplete. As is customary with Porsche, a car with such a letter index is designed for high-speed driving on highways in a racing manner. Taking into account the characteristics of the top-end, more powerful Cayenne Turbo model, from the GTS you should expect power in the region of 600 hp, an outrageously “tightened” and lowered suspension and at least 21 wheel rims, through which the red brake calipers should shine through.

Mazda CX-5

The Japanese company has updated its successful “medium” crossover CX5 for the second time. As the official Mazda importer in Ukraine told us, the main highlight of the 2024 CX-5 will be the new media system. It will feature wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play functionality, and will now have multiple USB-C ports in accessible locations. All configurations will receive a start-stop system (its brand name is i-Stop), and it is stated that thanks to it, the largest engine of the model will reduce appetite by 750 grams for every 100 km. Also worth mentioning is the fresh color palette and special grille trim available for the top versions.

News from Peugeot

Next year, the Peugeot importer will bring two updated crossovers to Ukrainian car dealerships – the compact 2008 and the more venerable e-3008. The smaller of the “lion cubs” has become quite similar to the Peugeot 508, having received vertical running lights in the style of three “claws” and rear light blocks in the form of a triple “dotted line”. In addition, the style of 2008 is formed by new wheels ranging in size from 16 to 18 inches and black rear-view mirrors. And the GT version will have a black roof. The interior features the signature Peugeot i-Cockpit with a multifunction steering wheel, a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a second 10-inch touch screen. Cars with “mechanics” will have a new gearbox lever with built-in Grip Control.

Peugeot e-3008 will be offered only in electric and hybrid versions. On the outside, the crossover has become lighter and faster compared to its predecessor. At the front, the grille merges with the body panel, and then on the sides there is the iconic theme with glowing “claws”. The interior features a curved 21-inch screen and a compact steering wheel with sectors truncated on both sides. The automatic transmission is controlled by a joystick located at the steering wheel.

Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid

According to the official importer, the hybrid version of the purely electric Jeep Avenger will certainly arrive on our market next year. Interesting from the outside, the compact crossover is powered by an equally interesting hybrid power unit, which consists of a 100-horsepower gasoline engine and a 29-horsepower electric motor. It is possible to move purely on an electric drive – for example, while parking or “pulling up” in city traffic jams. The hybrid drive can recuperate excess energy during braking and transfer it to the electric drive to save fuel and improve dynamics during acceleration.

Skoda Kodiaq

The new generation of the already not old model has grown in length by more than 0.6 m, and the massive car began to look even more solid. The interior remains roomy, with 5 or 7 seats, and a large trunk. In technical terms, the new Kodiak boasts Volkswagen’s MQB Evo platform, which is the latest of all VAG developments. It is significant that in the range of Kodiaq power units, in addition to two petrol turbo engines and a 2.0-liter diesel engine, there are two hybrid units – with a so-called “mild” hybrid and a plug-in hybrid with 100-kilometer purely electric autonomy.

In short

It is gratifying that, despite a lot of diverse problems, Ukraine does not fall out of the big automotive life: the latest models of the global automotive industry should reach our market without significant delays. Regarding the cars themselves, we see confirmation of global trends towards electrification, although there are certain doubts that the Ukrainian consumer will support them en masse. Fortunately, all interesting models have versions with traditional gasoline or diesel engines. At least this definitely applies to the crossover segment.
