The American company iSeeCars conducted a study to find out which cars are in the use of the original owners the longest.
–
It analyzed 660,000 vehicles from model years 1981-2005 sold in 2020 to determine which vehicles have been in storage for at least 15 years.
–
Only “Japanese” got into the top 10 models – seven Toyota, two Honda and one Subaru.
–
“Japanese cars, especially Toyota and Honda, are renowned for their reliability and durability. They attract practical consumers who want cars that can be driven for as long as possible, ”noted iSeeCars. “Drivers are more likely to stick to vehicles they can rely on that do not require major costly maintenance.”
–
The most popular car that drivers prefer not to change for the longest is Toyota Prius… 13.7% of cars over 15 years old are owned by their original owners
–
Next comes the crossover Toyota Highlander, pickup Toyota Tacoma, minivan Toyota Sienna and another pickup Toyota Tundra (more than 10% of cars of each model are kept by the first owners for more than 15 years).
–
The sixth and seventh places, respectively, are taken by two SUVs from Honda – Honda CR-V (10.7%) and Honda pilot (10,4%).
–
In addition, iSeeCars studied which sports cars were kept by the first owners for more than 15 years. A list of six models formed Mazda MX-5 Miata, BMW Z4, BMW M5, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford GT and Audi S4.
