The corona pandemic and its pandemic measures have burned themselves into our collective memory. A man from this time who is also remembered is the virologist Professor Dr. Hendrick Streeck, Director of the Institute for Virology at the University Hospital of Bonn.
He was on the Federal Government’s Corona Expert Council and was therefore one of the most heard voices, especially during the early days of the pandemic. Over time, Hendrick Streeck increasingly became a critic of the pandemic measures, especially the 2G and 3G regulations, the practice of testing, but also the type of scientific discussion. He has now taken on the task of coming to terms with the pandemic and written a book about it. To do this, he primarily looked at a lot of studies. His conclusion: He advocates that the pandemic measures should be examined on a broad level in politics and society.
In this episode of “Corona – what’s left”, we look back at the pandemic period with Hendrick Streeck: what didn’t go well and what was good. How scandalous are the RKI files really and what role should the Robert Koch Institute play in the future? Were measures such as comprehensive testing useful? Are masks really effective? And how often were there really serious side effects from the corona vaccination? And how can we be better prepared for a potential next viral pandemic? All of these questions are discussed in this very insightful episode.
