A study shows that blood type certain can increase the risk of experiencing heart disease. Not the only determining factor, but there is an influence.
There are 4 blood groups, namely A, B, AB, and O. Each blood group has certain characteristics. These characteristics make certain blood types more susceptible to heart disease.
Study conducted by Harvard University found, people with blood types A, B and AB, more at risk of heart disease than people with blood type O.
The study was conducted on 89,500 adults and lasted long term that is for 20 years. In addition, researchers found that people with blood type AB were 23 percent more likely to develop heart disease than others.
People who have type B blood have an 11 percent risk, while people with blood type A have a 5 percent increased risk.
Quoted from the Harvard Edu Hsph page, a study published in 2017 of one million patients also showed people with blood types A, B, AB had a 9 percent more risk of developing heart disease than blood type O.
But keep in mind, that does not mean if you have this blood type means you will experience heart disease.
There are many risk factors for heart disease that are more likely to cause a person to experience heart disease such as a high-fat diet, not exercising, lack of sleep, being overweight, high blood pressure, and smoking.
