“What belongs together grows together – even in jazz!” That’s what the announcement said – Paul Heller & Martin Sasse Quartet
Last Friday (23.8.24), under a bright late summer sky, many music lovers gathered on Ziepchens-Platz in Rhöndorf to experience the final concert of this year’s “Music in the Pavilion” series.
The Paul Heller & Martin Sasse Quartet, consisting of the renowned saxophonist Paul Heller (known for his work in the WDR Big Band) and the celebrated Cologne pianist Martin Sasse, thrilled the audience. The harmonious addition of the quartet by Martin Gjakonovski on bass and the Dutch drummer Joost van Schaik, both members of the multi-award-winning Martin Sasse Trio, promised an extraordinary concert experience.
The Greek cuisine of Bakaliko provided culinary delights, while the ladies’ committee provided hearty dishes such as meatloaf and bratwurst. The ice princess Katja Völkner from the ice-cream studio spoiled the visitors with her creative ice-cream creations, and the team around Peter Profittlich provided refreshing drinks.
The Rhöndorf Citizens’ and Local Association organized this unforgettable event, which was supported by the Cologne jazz club King Georg and will be remembered for a long time. Music brings people together – and this jazz evening was a living example of this.
Afterwards, members of the Rhöndorf Citizens’ and Local Association thanked Thomas Heyer and Ernst Nellessen for their organization and work on the Music in the Pavilion project.
