Four regions of Ukraine are at risk of moving into the “red” quarantine zone – Sumy, Donetsk, Zhitomir and Kharkiv regions. Of these, the most critical situation for COVID-19 has developed in the Sumy region.

This was announced at an online briefing on Wednesday, October 13, by the head of the Center for Health Economics of the Kiev School of Economics (KSE) Yuri Ganichenko. Video available on Facebook.

“The most critical situation is in the Sumy region, where the detection rate of infections is already above 30%. This is a lot, 50% more than the established threshold and twice as much as the national average,” explained Ganichenko.

He added that in the Sumy region, the indicators for the occupancy of beds with connected oxygen were exceeded. Also in the region, there is a high dynamics of growth in hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus or suspected coronavirus.
