For security reasons, Apple has introduced small symbols on iOS that inform you about the status of your iPhone.
It is a small luminous point which is activated under certain conditions next to the Wifi or network signs, it sometimes shines in green, sometimes in orange, but many of you do not know why. Appeared in iOS 14, this light has a very useful purpose to protect your privacy. What are the different indications?
- An orange indicator: Your microphone is activated in the background by an app;
- One green light: Your camera is activated in the background by an app;
- The indicator may also appear as an orange square if the “differentiate without color” setting is enabled in the settings.
So that means these indicators light up even when regular apps like the camera or FaceTime are activated. This is also the case on social networks that we generally allow access to our camera or microphone when we want to record a video directly before sharing it. For applications such as Snapchat, TikTok, WhatsApp, Messenger, etc. These color witnesses are therefore present.
The idea is inspired by the webcams that you can find on your computers, since some incorporate LEDs to indicate that the camera is active, like the camcorders of the 1980s. Above all, Apple introduced this light to warn its users, since certain applications can sometimes, without your knowledge, access the microphones or the camera without what you want.
