Brazil and Uruguay are two destinations that Argentines always tempt for a spring break or to enjoy summer vacations. And, each with its own particularities, its decisions regarding foreign travelers have similarities. By April they had already eliminated the requirement for negative tests (PCR or antigens) for fully vaccinated travelers.

Any traveler who wants to enter the country of more than seven thousand kilometers of beaches must take the following into account.

  • On September 12, a new resolution published in Brazil’s Official Gazette states that travelers can now choose to submit proof of vaccination or a negative test of the virus to enter the country. The resolution was signed by the ministers of the Civil House (Cabinet), Justice, Health and Infrastructure. The measure follows the recommendation of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
  • Submit proof of vaccination in paper or electronic format or submit evidence of a Covid-19 test with a negative or undetectable result, such as an antigen test or laboratory RT-PCR performed one day before the shipping time.

The new rules are already in place. According to Anvisa, the measure simplifies the currently existing controls, as it allows any traveler to comply with any of the necessary requirements.

“The recommendation is reiterated by a position from the World Health Organization, which stresses that testing and quarantine policies should be reviewed regularly to ensure they are suspended when they are no longer needed,” they say in the agency.
